Salsa Class Social Etiquette
To ensure everyone has a fun, safe, and productive time on the dance floor, we ask all students to observe our salsa class social etiquette: 1. Respect the Class Flow We want you to get the most out of your tuition. When the instructor is speaking or demonstrating, please pause all conversations. Even quiet chatting makes it difficult for others to hear and breaks the flow of the class. 2. Trust Your Instructor’s Guidance Our instructors have over 20 years of experience. If we suggest a specific level for you (e.g., staying in Improvers before moving to Intermediate), please trust our professional judgement. Leading in a social group class requires different skills to private lessons. We want you to thrive in the right environment, not struggle in one that is too fast-paced. 3. A Safe & Comfortable Space Salsa is a social dance, but personal boundaries are paramount. Conversations: Please ensure social chats are welcome and reciprocal. Checking In: Our team has a duty of care. If an instructor checks in on a conversation or interaction, please understand this is standard safeguarding to ensure everyone feels comfortable. Zero Tolerance: We do not tolerate harassment or aggressive behaviour. 4. No Teaching on the Dance Floor Unless you are the hired instructor, please refrain from “correcting” your partner. It knocks their confidence. Focus on your own steps and let the teacher handle the instruction. 5. Hygiene & Care Salsa is a close-contact activity. Please be mindful of personal hygiene (deodorant and mints are a dancer’s best friend!) and be gentle with your partner’s arms and shoulders.
